A message from The MEMBERS Financial Services Program

Retirement Decisions Overview
National health care legislation may generate widespread changes to health care plans across the country. Changes to the Sandia National Laboratories post-retirement health care plan will take effect in 2011. Members will have to make retirement decisions based on much new information and choose new investment strategies in this radically altered health care and economic landscape.

The MEMBERS Financial Services Program located at SLFCU is offering a seminar for members and their spouses entitled “Retirement Decisions Overview” to help members make wise retirement choices. This overview will answer the following questions:
•  When should I retire – 2010 or later?
•  How will the changes affect my standard of living?
•  How will these changes affect my out-of-pocket
expenses for health care?
•  Can I afford to retire?

MEMBERS Financial Services Representatives will answer questions about health care benefits and discuss strategies for managing your pension and protecting your 401(k) investments.             #FR110910-C35A

Retirement Income Planning
Living a long and healthy life has its rewards. But, long retirements can be challenging to fund. As life expectancies grow, income challenges mount. Members will need to supplement their pensions and Social Security with savings and investment income.

The MEMBERS Financial Services Program located at SLFCU is offering a workshop for members and their spouses entitled “Retirement Income Planning.”

This seminar will answer the following questions:
• How to generate income without a paycheck.
• Five risks that can derail a lifetime income plan.
• Pension survivor benefits -- what is best for me and my family?

Don Lutz, CFP®, CRPC®, Vice President, Wealth Management with MEMBERS Financial Services*, will discuss retirement income planning strategies as well as your insurance needs.

Investing in Retirement
The economic landscape has changed since 2007 when most investors had a high proportion of stocks in their portfolios. In 2008, the average 401(k) plan loss was more than 25% for those with account balances exceeding $200,000.1

The MEMBERS Financial Services Program, located at SLFCU, wants to help you adjust your retirement strategies to our changed economic climate in a seminar entitled “Investing in Retirement.” The seminar will answer the following questions:
•  How will I accumulate enough money to retire and
make it last a lifetime?
•  How will I recover from the recent losses my
portfolio has taken?

Jack Jordan, Vice President, Wealth Management with MEMBERS Financial Services*, will help you identify your goals and make wise decisions to improve your financial situation.                  #FR110910-AE11

Choosing Long Term Care Insurance
Long term care insurance may become a necessity if aging, an illness or an accident leaves you incapable of caring for yourself. Most health insurance programs do not cover long-term care costs. Long-term care insurance can cover costs both at home and in a facility.

The MEMBERS Financial Services Program wants to help you make informed decisions in a seminar entitled “Choosing Long Term Care Insurance.” The seminar will answer the following questions:
•  How can I protect my assets?
•  How can I control where and how I receive long
term care services?
•  How can I free my family from concern?
•  How can I maintain my freedom and dignity?

Mary Hanson, Financial Advisor, MEMBERS Financial Services*, will help you understand how to choose appropriate long term care insurance products. She will also cover strategies for people with health problems who believe their options are limited.        #FR110910-C43E
